MRT News Express - January 2020

In this series, we explain all kinds of news related to metros, under the Label MRT News Express. There will be one such update whenever news is available.

Express 1-Pune Metro:

The first priority section of Pune Metro from Ananadnagar to Garware college is ready to start commercial services by June 2020 with trials going on rapidly. Once CMRS certificate is issued, commercial services will commence. MMRCL is confident in starting services in June or July 2020. This will be the 14th MetroRail in India.

Express 2-Bangalore Suburban Railway:

As we said in the pevious post, a city like Bengaluru deserves more than 6 lines of metro. So, the Government of India is studying the possibilities of building a suburban railway in Bengaluru, to ease congestion in the city. There is a possibility of Suburban trains from in the city to Bangarapet, Hosur, Kuppam, Chintamani and Doddaballapura.

Express 3-Chennai Metro:

Chennai metro's line 1 extension from Washermanpet to Wimco Nagar has started trial runs and is scheduled to be opened upto Korukkkupet. The route will cover stations such as Theyagaraja College, Tondaiarpet and Korukkupet.

Express 4-Kolkata Metro:

Kolkata's east-west metro is ready from Sector - V to Phoolbagan and commercial services should start before March or April. After 10 years of construction, kolkata's second metro railway will finally open in a few weeks. 

The Dakineshwar to Noapara Extension of North-South Metro will be opened before 2022.

Express 5-Delhi Metro:

Delhi Metro's three extensions, from Najafgarh to Dhansa Bus Stand on Grey line, Dwarka to ECC Centre on Airport Express and Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake to Mayur Vihar pocket - I on the Pink line are scheduled to open between September to December 2020.

Express 6-Chenai &Delhi Metrolite:

Soon Delhi and Chennai are going to have metrolite corridors.

In Chennai, a 12km long metrolite from Velachery to Tambaram is being surveyed.

In Delhi, a 20km long Metrolite is Being built from Kirti Nagar to Darka Sector 25 and is Scheduled to open in 2025.
