Delhi Metro-Part II
In part I, we had explained how Delhi Metro was going to be the first modern metro of India. After construction started in 1997-98, the first section of the broad gauge Red Line opened on 25/12/2002. Since then, the metro has expanded rapidly.
Delhi Metro in 2019
Nowadays, Delhi metro id so big that it is fit to call it NCR Metro instead of Delhi Metro.It has branched into the satellite cities of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad etc. Also, Delhi metro was the first metro in India to be built in Phases.

Now let us look at the 4 Phases of Delhi Metro.
Phase-I
The first Phase of Delhi Metro had 3 lines, totalling to 65km of Metro. Namely:
Red line    (21.3km)
Shahadra------------------------Tis Hazari-------------------Inderlok--------------------------Rithala


Yellow Line  (10.84km)
Vishwa Vidhyala-------------------Kashmere Gate------------------------------Central Secretariat

Blue Line  (32.2km)

A total of 59 stations were built opening from 25/12/2002 to 11/11/2006. This phase was built within the limits of Greater Delhi area. The main motto of this phase was to bring better connectivity to the inner and greater Delhi.

Phase-II
The second phase of Delhi metro was 124.9km long and had 10 extensions to the original network. The built network had 92 stations. The extensions were:

The Second Phase of Delhi Metro witnessed the first ever Airport Express Railway Line to be built in India.This would also be known as the orange line and would become the fastest mass transit in India at 135km/h.The plan for which was as follows:
